Microsoft Word: How to vertically align text

When you Create a cover page Vertically aligning text on title pages or other page may be a good idea. Microsoft Word allows you to center or place the text at the top, or bottom. This can be done in just a few clicks.

This is possible if you need to align the entire text of the document (e.g., a Word document on a single page).

  1. Click here Layout Click on the tab to open it Page Setup dialog box. This can be done by clicking the small arrow in the lower right corner Page Setup group.

  2. You can use the drop-down menu to the Page Section next to Vertical alignment You can choose the position you prefer. There are four options available: top, middle, justified or bottom alignment. You can choose to place the text at that location based on which option Margins at the top and base.

The text should now be vertically aligned using the chosen position.

Transform certain texts vertically

You may only need to align one section of your Microsoft Word document, such as a heading or paragraph. This can be done with only one minor adjustment to the steps above.

  1. Drag your cursor over the text that you wish to align.

  3. Select one of the available alignment options from the Vertical alignment drop-down list.
  4. In the Apply to Drop-down selection Selected text.

You will then only see the vertically aligned text that you have selected.

Straighten Text Vertically Starting at a Point Forward

You can also align your text vertically by starting at a specific point. If you wish to preserve the original text, but add new text moving ahead, you might consider this approach.

  1. Move your cursor to the right of the document and set the point where you want the alignment.

  2. Select the Layout In the box, tab.
  3. You can place the text anywhere you like in the Vertical alignment drop-down list.
  4. In the Apply to Drop-down selection This point forward.

You will then be able to see all text aligned vertically after you have placed your cursor.

Microsoft Word allows you to easily customize the appearance and layout of your document. You can center text vertically, or place it at the bottom or top of the page.
